When I’m Gone Guitar Lesson – 3 Doors Down
In this guitar lesson video for "When I'm Gone", I will show you how to play this smash hit by 3 Doors Down note-for-note.
The tuning is standard tuning, E A D G B E.
We have some nice arpeggio picked progressions throughout the intro and verse sections and some cool power chord riffs in the chorus and bridge sections, but overall this is a pretty easy song to play rhythm guitar wise.
I will demonstrate each of those rhythms in the order that each appears on the original recording. I will also mention where I think they might of played it differently in the studio than what you will see in live performance videos (specifically a couple of chord voicings in the chorus).
I will also demonstrate both guitar solos note-for-note. Guitarist Matt Roberts played a nice simple melodic solo after the first chorus but then cranks up the difficulty level a bit for the main solo later in the song.
Have fun learning this classic from 3 Doors Down! R.I.P. Brad and Matt! Carl...
