In this Love Bites guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this classic ballad by Def Leppard in it's entirely.
The tuning is standard tuning, E A D G B E.
There is a lot going on in this one. The original recording contains lots of guitar layers that would be impossible to play with just two guitarists. Def Leppard themselves where aware of this and were apparently extremely nervous about having to perform "Love Bites" live. But they did a good job of dividing the parts up between Phil Collen and Steve Clark for the live performances.
So what I have done in this lesson is pretty much shown you the parts that each guitarist plays live. There will be a couple of riffs that are part of the live performance, where they do play a riff found on the original recording, but change it a little bit (most notably, Phil Collen's playing in the pre-chorus).
When that occurs, I will show you how the riff was played on the original recording instead of the live version.
Also, keep in mind that if you are watching a live performance of "Love Bites" on the internet, they typically tune down their guitars to make the vocals a bit easier to sing. But this lesson is in standard tuning like the original recording.
This is just a fantastic song that is well loved by millions. Hopefully now, with just a couple of guitarists, you can enjoy playing it as well.
Thanks! Carl...
