Watch Devon Allman and Duane Betts Jam on Gibson Les Paul Trad Pro V Guitars

Watch Devon Allman and Duane Betts Jam on Gibson Les Paul Trad Pro V Guitars

Back in 2018, Devon Allman and Duane Betts - the respective sons of The Allman Brothers Band's Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts - teamed up to form the Allman Betts Band.

Though modern, forward-looking and delivered with its own distinct flair, the band's music is undoubtedly steeped in the tradition of the sound Allman and Betts' fathers pioneered. Aside from the obvious, family links between the two bands, another explanation for their musical similarities is in Allman and Betts' choice of gear.

Allman and especially Betts, like their fathers, frequently utilize Gibson guitars on stage and in the studio. With that in mind, Guitar Center recently enlisted the two to test out one of Gibson's best mid-price guitars, the Les Paul Trad Pro V.

"Gibson, with our families, goes back so far," Allman says in the video of the resulting jam session and discussion, which you can check out above.

In the video, Allman and Betts discuss the versatility, specs and tone of the Pro V, why they enjoy using the guitar and how the Allman Betts Band came to be. Of course, they exchange some searing blues licks on the guitars as well.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if 100 years from now there’s still cats like us playing Les Pauls," Allman said. "I certainly hope so.”
