In this Fire Woman guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this great song by The Cult note-for-note.
The tuning is standard tuning, E A D G B E.
For most sections of "Fire Woman", there will be a rhythm and lead guitar part. Billy Duffy is constantly throwing cool guitar riffs at us in this one.
I will be covering his first three solos note-for-note, as well as the fill that occurs in the second verse. The only part I am skipping in this one will be the outro solo. But for that outro solo you can use the same scale patterns that Billy is using in the previous solos to improvise your own thing in the outro.
The scales Billy is using throughout most of the solo work in "Fire Woman" is D minor pentatonic and D Dorian. Sort of like a pentatonic based solo with a couple extra notes thrown in there (the 2nd and 6th) scale degrees to create a Dorian sound.
I will take you through all of the rhythm guitar parts in the order that each appears on the original recording.
Have fun with this one, it is kind of hard not to! Carl...
