For those of you that attempt to improvise your own tunes and even write your own songs, what is your creative process?

Now this might be the wrong area of the subject to take this into on this sub but I’ve heard from many they like to sit down with a bottle of whiskey or whatever their choice of poison is and they just fall into some sort of creative groove. For some maybe its pot for some maybe things much worse and for some it’s absolutely nothing but inspiration and a tune they thought up their head the night before. I’ve come to the point some years into in my playing where I suddenly just feel the need to create my own music and I am no composer or master or technical guitar and scales and all that but i can sit down and write and play some things (mostly country blues style stuff) that I really like. Im not asking someone to tell me how stoned they get before they write a song but what is your creative process if you write your own music and and aren’t someone who can sight read sheet music.
