If I try to palm mute while playing a fast song, I start freezing up. I can play at that speed perfectly fine without palm muting but something about the motion of taking my hand off the strings then back on just messes me up. The most apparent examples of this are Basket Case and Master of Puppets. It's like I can't put my hand back on fast enough.
