Key/Scale question

So I’m learning how to play Darklands by The Jesus and Mary Chain, and it opens with this lick that takes place on an f#minor scale, but the chords are g,c, am, and d. Those aren’t the right chords right?

I’m 95% sure that those are the right chords and I’m positive the lick is correct.

How do these coexist in the same song?

Also everywhere says the is in the key of g BUT it also says that the lick is in the f# minor scale
