I don't really know of this belongs here .. But I'm gonna ask anyway .. Is there anyone here who has modded a really cheap guitar ? I've got this strat style first act and it died a few years ago .. It played really decent but sounded kinda rough... It has sentimental value ..

I'm wondering if its worth refinishing and putting new electronics throughout or should I just keep it to hang on the wall ? .. The guitar was like 40 bucks in a pawn shop. My wife bought it for me on our honeymoon after I had been eyeballing it ( $40 on something non essential was a big deal for us then. ) the neck feels better than my squire bullet and the guitar is pretty light .. I have no idea what kind of wood its made out of or anything so any insight on that at all would be appreciated.
