How did you get your first electric guitar? New or used? Did you buy online?

I've only ever played acoustic, and figured quarantine is a good time to pick up electric. Of course with the stores being closed, shopping online is really the only option. My budget is ~$300. If you bought your first electric guitar online did you feel comfortable with it? What's your story behind the experience?
