Methods of Improving Form on Barre Chords

Hey everyone!

I've recently started to development a dull, persistent pain in my thumb of my fret-board hand. I feel like it's definitely from gripping the neck too hard, but I'm not certain on how to adjust my grip without making sure I can make all the notes sound crisp.

I experience a dull, minor pain from basic fine motor skill functions throughout the day and I don't want to mess up my thumb/hand long term by continuing with an inefficient form of playing guitar. I've tried using a hand grip strengthener...but sometimes the next day thumb feels extra sore in a not healthy way.

Any stretches, form improvements, tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
