In this Zero guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this great hard rock classic from The Smashing Pumpkins in its entirety.
The tuning is Eb standard tuning. That is, starting from the 6th string, Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb. If your tuner displays sharps instead of flats for chromatic notes, the notes would be spelled D# G# C# F# A# D#.
We will start the lesson with that instantly recognizable octave and harmonic riff. I will explain the harmonics and how they are played when Billy Corgan first plays the riff at the beginning of the song. From there, he doesn't play it exactly the same way each time so you can kind of do you own thing with it like he does live.
Because of the nature of the guitar solos with crazy harmonized effects and unrecreatable playing, I will be covering just the rhythm guitar parts for "Zero".
I will cover each riff in the order that each appears on the original recording.
This one is a lot of fun to play! Carl...
