High Enough Guitar Lesson – Damn Yankees

In this High Enough guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this great song by the Damn Yankees note-for-note.

The tuning is E standard tuning, E A D G B E.

"High Enough" begins with a beautiful chord progression on acoustic guitar. I will be teaching this on electric guitar just to make it easy for filming since the rest of the song uses electric guitar predominantly. This chord progression for the verse has some very nice and slightly challenging chord voicings that will be well worth the effort put in to learn them.

From there the electric guitar enters for the pre-chorus and chorus sections. These rhythm parts are a bit easier to play than the acoustic ones. I will cover each section of the song in the order that each appears on the original recording.

Starting in the bridge we begin to have lead guitar work from Ted Nugent. I will demonstrate both the chords and Ted's lead in the bridge that then launches into his amazing guitar solo.

I will then cover Ted's wah drenched solo phrase-by-phrase to make it as easy as possible to get under your fingers quickly. This solo was a particular favorite of mine back in the early nineties. It is a very dramatic solo that fits the song perfectly.

I will then close out the lesson video with the remaining chord progressions that close out the song.

I hope you guys enjoy learning this killer power ballad from the Damn Yankees! Carl...
