In the early hours of Tuesday morning, a devastating tornado tore through Nashville, Tennessee and a number of surrounding communities in the Nashville area, killing at least 25 and destroying hundreds of homes and businesses.
Nashville's importance to the guitar universe - as the home of many of the world's best players, the host of some of the most invaluable pieces of guitar history and as the headquarters of dozens of guitar stores and manufacturers - is impossible to overstate.
With that in mind, the biggest guitar manufacturer to call Music City home, Gibson, has elected to chip in to help guitarists who lost their beloved instruments to the tornadoes.
Any musician who lost their guitar in the storm will be given a demo model, prototype or shop worn Gibson free of charge, thanks to the company's Gibson Gives foundation.
“Our goal is to get a guitar back into the hands of anyone who has had their guitar damaged or destroyed in the recent Tennessee storm,” said Gibson Gives Executive Director Dendy Jarrett in a statement. “As a Nashville, Tennessee based company, we are also engaging with our artists and other partners to provide support across many areas.”
