How to slap the strings and play at the same time?

Hi!

I'm trying to learn a new song by watching a tutorial on youtube. In the video he plays the song while there are tabs beneath. In the tab there is "x" where he slaps the strings. I can do that, however, there are several times where he plays other string at the same time as slapping some other strings. How do you that?
