Looking for recommendations for advanced guitar lessons on YouTube.

So my finger dexterity is great, but I’m completely self taught and mess around with Amajor and a minor scales. I’ve found little patterns that are fun for me and can deviate a bit from pentatonic (am I making sense?)

I really don’t know what I’m doing but I know what sounds good. I really want to find some good lessons that aren’t too advanced with theory, that help me improve with my scales and little tricks to make working the neck in different keys that much easier.

Please help, and thanks so much!

Smokin’ In The Boys Room Guitar Lesson – Motley Crue

In this Smokin' In The Boys Room guitar Lesson video, I will show you how to play this great cover song by Motley Crue note-for-note.

The tuning on the original recording and this lesson video is D Standard. D Standard means that every string is tuned down one whole-step. That will be, starting from the 6th string, D G C F A D.

The rhythm guitar parts for "Smokin' In The Boys Room" are quite simple. However, Mick Mars keeps things interesting by throwing lots of guitar fills into the mix, especially during the chorus sections. I will break each one of those chorus sections down individually so that you can learn all of those fills.

For the solo, Mick Mars ramps up the difficulty level quite a bit. On the studio recording, we have the two separate guitar parts, one with slide and one without, creating sort of a call and response element to the solo. Even though those parts were recorded separately in the studio, when Mick performed it live in the 80's, he would perform both. This is obviously more difficult to do.

Later on in Motley Crue's live career, Mick ditched the slide and just improvised those sections of the solo. However, I will be demonstrating the solo the way he played it in the 80's, which will require us to use a slide along with the normally played parts of the solo. The creates quite the challenge!

Have fun learning this great rock classic from Motley Crue! Carl...

Advice for fixing the way I play?

Hey all, I’ve been playing guitar for about 12 years mainly as a hobby. Lately I’ve been writing a lot of really cool stuff but my mind is way ahead of my hands. With some of the things I’m trying to do I’ve realized that my positioning is horrible and it’s become very hard to break my habits when I play. One of my biggest issues has been angling my wrist towards the body of the guitar/ground when playing on the 6th string. This is especially true when I try playing any notes towards the head of the guitar on the 6th string. I think this may be a result of playing with a capo more often than not.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone had any tips or exercises for someone who isn’t new to guitar, but would like to fix bad habits?

Mind Games Guitar Chords – John Lennon

In this Mind Games guitar lesson video, I will show you all of the chords to this great song by John Lennon.

The tuning is standard tuning, E A D G B E.

The are just two chord progressions that you will need to learn for this one.

Many of the chords are inversions. This means that another note besides the root note is in the bass. Lennon does this in order to create a smoother and more melodic bass line through the chord changes.

I will cover each chord progression in detail.

I hope you enjoy learning this great song from the incomparable John Lennon!

Best beginner guitar?

Hi all, I've never played an instrument and have recently become interested with the idea of teaching myself acoustic guitar. I really know nothing about them other than the fact that they sound great. I'm looking to spend about $250 on one, but am willing to go a bit higher if needed. I also do not like large guitars. I'm not looking for a banjo or anything, but want something that won't overwhelm me when I hold it. Any guitar recommendations are greatly appreciated! Thanks
